Malacca My Love

I would say that I'm a proud Malaccan.  I love all things about Malacca. When I got the news that we've been listed under the UNESCO Heritage thing, I was thrilled. I mean, Malacca is a nice and pretty place. I love eating the chicken rice, satay celup, go to Jonker Street, lepak-ing in Mahkota and Dataran, go to the temple and pray and many many more things. And of course, I love the fact that my school is located in the heart of the town (I think). And then, those old old buildings, the Nyonya culture and well, almost every cultural things about Malacca.

But little did I know that the UNESCO thing is when nightmare begins. Now is not like then. I go to Jonker Walk and it bloody explodes! Just 3 days of holidays and you bloody get traffic jams! As proud as I am with Malacca, sometimes I wish tourists would not come. I mean, like just last week, we had this holiday on Friday and poof, on weekends, Malacca become so siao. Even the new Jusco has got some kind of traffic jam.

It's so sad, you know. Last time, I could go to Mahkota about every two weeks and 20 minutes was all it takes to arrive there. Now, 40 minutes also haven't reach. I think it's been about half a year since I last went to Mahkota on a weekend, excluding class reunions. Even so, when I had my class reunions on Saturdays in Mahkota, my mum needed about 1 hour to get from Bukit Beruang to there. And now, I only go to Jonker Walk about once a year. I even go to KLCC more than I go Jonker Walk! If I were to insist on going, I'll see Exploding Street instead of Jonker Street.

So now, I want to ask all tourist don't come to Malacca! I want my lovely traffic jam-free Malacca back!! Our Chief Minister should most probably have a No Tourist Day in Malacca so that we, Malaccans can actually go to Jonker Walk, Mahkota, new Jusco with a happy mood. Please, oh, please!!

I guess you should ask the government to enlarge the roads and find alternative routes to those places, instead of building more and more shoplots that noone buys/rents and spend money on unnecessary stuffs like changing the flowers, even when they are still very beautiful!
