Don't read. This might be a boring post.

They say comics are like movie. And comic artists are like directors.
They direct the story, determine the actors, control the stories and make amazing things.

Comics artists are like directors, where instead of having cameras, photographers and actors, they are given, pieces of papers, pen and pencils.

Comic artists, like directors, make stories that touch people, leaving deep impression for people to remember.

Too often, comic artists are forgotten. Too often, they're misunderstood. Too often, they're abandoned.

For someone who has already indulged in the arts of comics for quite some time, I know how deeply comics affected my life. And I know many of my friends do too. Sometimes, it's not just fangirls obsession we have. There's always something more, something abstract, something that I can't express in words.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, now, after reading my artistically said word (??!!), I have some stuffs to introduce to my absolute maniac otaku friends!
So, beware!
HIGH OTAKU-O-METER AHEAD PLUS WORDS THAT YOU'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE!!
Non otakus, don't tell me I didn't warn you!
.
.
.
For the past year and past two years, I read less and less mainstream manga and anime (i.e. Bleach, Naruto, Ouran, Fruits Basket and you know, those famous manga where fangirls shout and fanboys talk about). Instead, I read more international manga that are actually nice and quite famous but most mainstream otakus wouldn't quite read. I started appreciating not only Japanese manga, but also manhua and manhwa from Korea, China and Taiwan. And I have to say, Chinese artists have big load talents around them. You know, I started having higher expectations on style of drawing.. and when I say this, I don't mean just those big-eyed animes that we all see. I started looking for individuality in each comics, in their storyline and drawing. For these, I actually picked out some other Asian manga that you people might want to read.

恋影天使, INGENUO

By Taiwanese, the latest one I'm reading. My sister introduced it to me few years ago and she told me it was superb. Personally, yes, I think it's pretty nice. I read it online so half the fun is gone. But nevertheless, I read until the last chapter scanned online. This actually means that it's so 150% nicer when you read it in books. 15 volumes altogether. The drawing's pretty good, although the beginning volumes weren't that good. I wouldn't tell you the synopsis, go Google it online. You can read it online in MangaFox.

下弦の月, KAGEN NO TSUKI

By our beloved, talented and recently suffering from serious illness Ai Yazawa, a mangaka that I will certainly go gaga over... Kagen No Tsuki is a bloody superb manga. It has well, need I say more.. super amazing drawing style and super duper amazing storyline. It's not just your random love story but it's actually love story when a girl is having coma, where she fell in love with her guy in her dream. It has got only 3 volumes, you can probably finish it in a day. I personally read it 2 times online so you can imagine so freaking amazing the story is, right?

REMEMBER

This book is sold throughout Malaysia, distributed by GempakStarz. If you expect manga style storyline, dream no more. It is one of those deep thinking manga where if you're not interested, you'll definitely not understand. I had to read it two times to understand. But Benjamin's drawings is amazing. They don't call him the Master of Digital Illustration for no reason. His digital illustration can actually speak. His illustrations actually have feelings. Contrary to what people (like me) always assume that digital illustrations look dead, Benjamin is one of those who'll prove them wrong. To digital artists wannabe, he's one hell of a great reference.  Google for other info.

80°C

Is also sold throughout Malaysia, distributed by GempakStarz. Contains four volumes (I don't know if there's more but that's all in Malaysia), with individual stories. Artist is Yao Fei La. He's known for his soft and simple drawing style. I like his stories cos' they're always so calming and funny and it kinda makes me fly when I read them. My favourite one is volume 4 where I think his art is the best here, and the storyline is just simple, easy to understand and it kinda makes me feel calm. Google for other (again!) info.

하백의 신부, BRIDE OF THE WATER GOD

By Korean manhwaga, Mi-Kyung Yun. I didn't read this all because I hate waiting for scanlations. This is where you can find pretty girls and pretty guys. Absolutely amazing drawing. But I have to say I got bored with the storyline though. The most probable reason is because I read it online. Reading it in book is much better. Flunyway, I think the story is a little boring, sometimes I don't feel like reading it, hence the reason why I didn't read all. But I have to give 2 thumbs up for the drawing. It's beautiful, eveything drawn perfectly in detail.

LAWAK KAMPUS

Laugh. Till. Your. Stomach. Also. Buay. Tahan.
By our local artist, Keith and Zelo (the latter then left Gempak). Published by GempakStarz, can be found anywhere in the mamak stalls. Drawings and stories all done perfectly well. Oh, and it's four panel comics. Where.. you know, like Master Q like that.. but this is wayyyyyyyyy funnier than Master Q. It has won an OACC award in China and I can tell you, OACC is not just a simple award out there.

Okay lah.. before I bore you guys who are non otakus, I think I'd better end things here.
Tudos, tata, baboi!
