GACC 2010

Last year's and this year's GACC wasn't as nice as few years back. I can totally understand last year because of the economy. Even so, last year, they had goodie bag for early birds. This year, we have none!

Damn nothing that kind. Only a photostated (how many "t"s are there in this word?) schedule. There's nothing by Animax, no free magazines by GempakStarz or reading room.Apparently, this is the last GACC.

See??!! Sad miserable piece of schedule...no more glossy surface booklet.

In 2006, it was a one-day event so we didn't have much free time. It was programs after programs. So we didn't feel so boring. I would say the best year was 2007 cos' it was the first year they invited a seiyuu over. So you know, everyone went gaga over Tohru Furuya. And in 2007, the schedule book was nice. It has glossy surface in every page and for goodies, we even had magazines from Gempak. And artists who had booths there were artists like Kidchan, Toounit and Ben even had some sort of autograph session. Back then, they had quite a number of famous artists. But I was too young to know them, so I thought they were just random people opening booths there.
GACC 2008 was pretty good too. They had seiyuu on the second day. And their schedule book was also quite nice. And then when it was GACC 2009, they had to postponed the whole thing to August, which was pretty near to my Trials. There were no banners, no The Star advertisements, no radio announcements, nothing. Just some updates in the Internet. If I didn't check it out regularly, I might have missed it. But it's understood lah.. economy got some problem.

So I thought this year might be better. Since economy has recovered, maybe things are more grand.
But instead, we all had to move to a smaller hall where there's no air-conditioners. Thank Buddha the weather outside was good. A small hall, a large amount of lunatic otakus, damn loud voices... and you get an annoyed otaku. But their situation is still understood because their Exam Hall got taken by some other events.

See the small hall? Kesian all of us...

Flunyway, I gathered my courage this year to join their character design competition. Well, stop asking if I got something because I don't. There were only 7 participants but the other 6 opened booths there (which is to say they sell drawings while I BUY drawings)... so they're pretty good in drawing.

I know, weird. But the original one is not that bad. I was in a rush so I didn't have time to take a nice photo of it.
Does this look better for you?

I didn't get to watch their group cosplay this year since I was busy drawing. But even if I were free, I still wouldn't watch them because the hall is darn crowded. We barely have space even to breathe.

But I would say this year's cosplayers are better than last year. Not to say last year was bad, but I guess it was my exam season so I didn't have a lot of mood to enjoy. Flunyway, there's a cute lil' cosplayer today. The youngest cosplayer I've ever seen. She cosplayed as one of the characters in Final Fantasy (I heard so) and damn cute lor..the mom also quite geng. She let her daughter to cosplay at such a young age. I certainly wouldn't do that. It must be tiring to pose here and there to have photos taken.

I know, pretty cute right? She might have been even cuter if my photography skills are better.

It's been quite some time since I last watch an anime so I dunno what this is.

Oh, you know, I actually got shocked when I saw this guy. I was like, "Eh, what's wrong with this guy man?! Something worse than 2012 just happened. I saw a faceless guy."

The L that I think appeared two years ago in GACC 2008. This guy, when he came last time, was an instant attention cos' of his hawt face. You know, he was like.. some sort of superstar. It was like, suddenly he entered and all other cosplayers became invisible.

Joanne has a booth there so if you're going tomorrow, you can go buy her stuffs. I've been supporting her by hanging out at her booth. XD

Overall, I wouldn't say I enjoyed that much, partly because of the crowded hall. But they're going to move to the original venue so bigger and better hall is coming. This is the last GACC so I must as well enjoy myself to the fullest. *sniff* No more GACC..

And you know, I realised events like anime convention are the only time when you can bring your DSLR and snap pictures like pros and no one will say you're a snob. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying those who own DSLR are snobs. Just you know, there're rich kids out there who'll beg their parents to buy goddamn expensive Canon or Nikon DSLR to camwhore. I mean, excuse me??!!! To camwhore!! If you just wanna look pretty and show off to your little friends that you are rich, go buy iPhone!  DSLRs are not to show off!!

Well, I'm not talking about snobs using DSLR here. I'll talk about these in other topics. So, in GACC, almost 50% are using DSLR. Digital cameras (tak ada DSLR) is like so last season here.. I saw many people with big round-ish cameras and those tall tall stuff that kind.. sigh.. all look so darn professional.
Flunyway, this is one hell of a long post (as I promised) and I gotta sleep now so baboi!! XD
