Malaysia

No need to say anything also you all know what this whole post is about...

I originally wanted to post this up in August since it's our National Month. But then I guess by that time all my inspirations will be gone and I'd have nothing to post about.
Now, now... yes, my dear readers, this is a post of patriotism. I know, you all will go, "Jeez... those you should love your country craps."

If you bo song then you can leave. I'm not gonna force you to love your country. You know, everytime when we study Sejarah, we always have this really bored mood and we'll think that it's boring lah, got a lot of things to memorise lah...and anything negative. Me too. I groan everytime when I read Sejarah, wonder why the Government actually wants us to read and torture all of us.

But deep down inside we all know why. It's to instill this love for country in all of us. And we all know it's not really working. After reading my past post criticising about JPA, you all might think I don't love the country and things like that. But it's the complete opposite. I happen to love this country a lot. I don't know how much I love it, I don't know if I'm willing to die for our country, but for all I know, I'm going to do what I can for this country, even if it is just posting up a small blog post like this where no one besides near friends read.

For those who literally can't wait to flee the country and get citizenship in countries like England (and giving up Malaysian citizenship), I've got nothing to say. But as Malaysians, we all know this is where we were born. Despite the fact that we may hate the government for being unfair, I believe each of us still have this little pride in us as Malaysians. This can be proven by small little words said by singers from overseas. When they all say "Terima kasih" or sing Rasa Sayang, don't we all feel little happiness in us because they know us?

I don't intend to show off to you all how much I love this country or criticize how badly teenagers are nowadays. Like I said, this post is originally for August but I ideas are coming out now. All I want to do remind all of you, including myself that sacrifices had been done to get this country back. I know you all read this a lot in our Sejarah textbooks. But we don't really stop for a moment and think about all these, do we? Admit it, we've been treating our Sejarah textbooks more like ghosts that make us fail rather than read them and know what we're doing. That's the problem with us. We always treat books as a way to pass our exams, to excel. But we've never really taken a few seconds and reflect why we have to read all these.

So much sacrifices had been done. One particular person that I've always respected is someone whom many of us often forget. Someone who had been mentioned far too many times in our books that we don't really give a damn anymore. Someone who was so willing to give up presidency of UMNO when he could just enjoy the power he had. Someone who was willing to set up the Independence Malayan Party (IMP) even though it had pretty bad response.

Yes, it's Dato' Onn Jaafar. If you still can't figure him out, then you most probably failed your Sejarah or you're not a Malaysian. Since Form 1 when I read about him, I had respected him. You see, how many people are willing to give up such a respected UMNO presidential seat? You go ask Najib now la...see he wants to give up or not? Dato' Onn Jaafar is truly a remarkable person. After he gave up, he established the IMP which didn't have nice response. See? He could have just continued his UMNO post and enjoy all the powers he had. But he didn't. Finally, he left it to form Parti Negara which then disappeared from our politics. Do you know how much he bloody sacrifice? If I were born that time, I would hug him and tell him that even if no one gives a damn about him, I do.

This is why it surprises me. We all know bribing is quite a serious matter in our country. Whether you are giving money to pass your JPJ test, money so that you won't kena saman, and some other things, you are still bribing. How can we all read so much things throughout the 5 years of secondary school and yet, we learn nothing. Okay, some of you might think I'm naive because no one passes car test without bribing. Some of you might make excuses saying in this country, bribing is necessary. That's the reality, this is how we, Malaysians survive.

But if being mature, a RATIONAL, know-what-the-world-is adult means doing all these and yet, still complaining government for being unfair, then I think I prefer to be a naive person. I don't know if in the future I'm going to follow the crowd and lose my individualism but right now, at this moment, what's wrong is wrong. If we don't compromise with people accepting bribes, then maybe, sooner or later, less and less will do it. We can't wait for the government to solve this for us. They make far too many mistakes to correct them one by one. If we're going to wait, die also we still complain about Malaysia.

The least we can do, is to make small little actions to prove that we love our country.

This is 1957: Hati Malaya movie, that I guess a lot of us don't know cos' we just don't give a damn about the place we live. This is the trailer, want to watch or not, it's up to you.
