Education.

Puh-leeze watch this vid!! I got it from Dawn's website, which is introduced by my sisteh so I suppose I should share it with you guys. XD

Education can be the most amazing thing of all but it can also be the worst of all.

When you think about it, 50% of what we learnt in schools are most probably useless when we are out to face the world.
Education is aimed at educating man so that we will be more knowledgeable, braver and smarter.
What exactly is smart?
Does knowing all the Science theories make you a smart person? We all presume that when someone is in Science class, she or he is smart. But why is that when someone is good in Art, no one thinks the same thing as they thought with Science?
Why is that we will all think that "Oh, she must be pretty smart. She has 12 As. She's a Science class student" when someone comes from Science class.

The reason why we all tend to look down upon Art classes students is because they don't achieve results as good as the Science classes. I mean, just look at how they stream the students. Good results in Science. Ever since we were young, we have been taught what's smart and not smart. Science is smart, Art is not.

Whose fault is it?
Do we blame the students?
The parents?
The teachers?
Or the education department?

If you're the one blaming the education department, can you come up with any solutions?
If you're a student and you're blaming all of the above except for yourself, it means you're aware that we have a problem. We have a problem with the education system. And you know it's unfair to judge someone by Sciences and Arts.

But...
If you're an Art class student and you don't like it when the Science classes look down upon you, have you done anything to prove them wrong?

If you haven't, isn't it your fault that their looking down on you? It's you the one who have not done enough to prove yourself. If that's the case, the fault is not at the education system, am I right?
It's you.

But then again, we can't deny it wasn't us, students who determine how the education system works. It's the government. The adults. The adults who keep telling us to study so that we are smarter so that we can get a job in the future. But when we have ideas, they merely slam our doors and think theirs are better.

But we are just children, just students. We don't know the world, do we?
We can't pretend like we're mature.

They say when we have education, we will be braver.
But why is that, especially in Asia, we accept so much education and when we think of our future, we would rather to be a coward and choose jobs that we think will give us safety?

We all assume that engineers, doctors, lawyers and the professionals are successful people.
I'm not saying that these people are NOT successful.
But when you think about it, if there are 2 person who learn ballet, both are very good, and person A, when she grows up is going to be a ballerina and person B wanna be a lawyer (although she loves ballet really really a lot and hopes to be really successful), according to others, earn more money. Let's say when both grow up, person A struggles like hell while person B has a smooth life...which do you think is more successful?

In this world that we are currently living, we all assume that ONLY professionals are successful, and poor people are not.

I'm sorry but my idea of success is someone who has the courage to chase his dreams, not someone who is a coward who only know how to choose the save route.

So, why haven't education taught us all these?
